My Story

Karen McConnell-Jones is the Nominating Chair for the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Southern Maryland Chapter. She is an entrepreneur and philanthropist, starting her path back in 1996, as the first Black to own upscale store-front business, located in the most prestigious area of downtown Washington, D.C., two blocks from the White House.


Ms. McConnell-Jones is a Media Generalist, and Founder of Vision & Purpose Media Productions, a community-based company, serving the Washington Metropolitan area. Ms. McConnell-Jones' mission is to effectively support her community through brand media, book publishing, business & human development, and leadership conferences. She is also an Amazon two-time #1 bestselling author, a purpose coach, and
inspirational speaker.


Ms. McConnell-Jones' work she does in the community has afforded her several awards and recognition, such as the Class Act Proclamation by the District of Columbia City Council Resolution, District of Columbia Department of Health Community Service Award, Black Wall Street Award, and over 40 proclamations from local government officials. Her most treasured accomplishments are becoming a Licensed Minister, receiving an Honorary
Doctorate Degree (Doctor of Humane Letters), the release of her documentary/movie Surviving Life, a Mental Health and Suicide Awareness film and her exclusive interview with Governor Wes Moore.
