Dear Furloughed Federal Employees & Federal Contractors:

We are following the activities on legislative activities that could lead to the re-opening of the federal government very soon. As of Monday, November 10, 2025, lawmakers are reported to vote on an agreement that would open the federal government. We are holding our lawmakers accountable for all agreements that serve the best interest of the people through our public policy committee work.

The National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc. - Southern Maryland Chapter advocates for the socio-economic needs and rights of Black women and girls, their families, and our community, especially at this difficult time for our friends, family, neighbors, co-workers, and Chapter members.

Even when the federal government opens, the need will continue. Use this resource page to help you quickly find valuable information on accessing donated food, financial assistance, mental well-being support, and other community services we all need from time to time. You are not alone! You've likely given so much to career, family, friends, and community; now, it is your turn to receive.

Maryland houses more than 60 federal facilities, 269,000 federal employees, and more than 200,000 federal contractors. Governor Wes Moore announced various programs to help federal workers in the state.  â€‹We echo the words of Governor Moore, "We’ve Got Your Back." â€‹

Sincerely,

Michelle Lyons, President
